Winemaker Notes
The 2010 vintage was exceptional, our Estate grown fruit ripened to unprecedented levels. The grapes were harvested individually – the Merlot in late September, the Cabernet Franc in early October and the Cabernet Sauvignon mid-October. After harvest the very best of the fruit was selected to dry naturally using the traditional appassimento method. After 105 days the grapes had reduced to half of their weight in moisture, leaving a concentrated and flavourful juice. The wine was fermented on the skins, pressed, and then aged in select French oak barrels for 28 months. Drinking beautifully now, especially after time in a decanter. The Gran Q 2012 will continue to develop in your cellar through to the year 2027.
