Distillery Notes – Gordon & MacPhail, Benromach Virgin Oak ‘Air Dried’ 2012

From the popular Speyside Benromach distillery comes a new release in the Contrast range. As the name suggests the Benromach Kiln Dried Oak is matured in kiln-dried virgin oak barrels, which reduces the moisture level in the wood and elevates its natural spice notes. Released a the same time as the air-dried edition offering a great chance to contrast the subtle nuances in flavour the cask maturations provide. This limited edition 10-year-old whisky has aromas of waxy lemon peel, toffee apple, sweet hay and malt biscuit. On the palate, creamy with tropical pineapple flavours. Barley sugar, fresh lime and ginger. Sweet notes of smoke linger on the finish.
