Distillery Notes – Gordon & MacPhail, Benromach Virgin Oak ‘Kiln Dried’ 2012
From the popular Speyside Benromach distillery comes a new release in the Contrast range. As the name suggests the Benromach Kiln Dried Oak is matured in kiln-dried virgin oak barrels, which reduces the moisture level in the wood and elevates its natural spice notes. Released a the same time as the air-dried edition offering a great chance to contrast the subtle nuances in flavour the cask maturations provide. This limited edition 10-year-old whisky has aromas of toffee, shortbread and citrus, with sweet malted ginger biscuit flavours followed by creamy fruit and white pepper on the palate.
