Winemaker Notes
The 2015 Henri Clerc Pommard Vieilles Vignes is a radiant brick color. This is a lovely vibrant style, with strikingly fresh redcurrant fruit aromas. It has a pleasing line of finesse and elegance more often associated with Volnay. It nevertheless has a delicious central core of Pommard fruit and depth. The final sensation is one of depth and great charm.
Red Burgundy might be the world’s most flexible food wine. The wine’s high acidity, medium body, medium alcohol, and low tannins make it very food-friendly. Red Burgundy, with its earthy and sometimes gamey character, is a classic partner to roasted game birds, grilled duck breast, and dishes that feature mushrooms, black truffles, or are rich in umami.
